This damage to the Mercedes CLA 250e has once again shown that a quick and uncomplicated repair with the CBR system can make economic sense for all parties. Instead of an expensive and time-consuming sidewall replacement, the damage was repaired cost-effectively and minimally invasively. The special feature of this damage lies in the design of the vehicle, as the side wall is not flanged, but merely attached and glued. This requires careful reshaping so as not to weaken the adhesive bond between the inner wheel arch and the side panel. The wheel arch edge is set using the CBR welding inverter and the turned power bits. Due to the high number of spot-welded bits, the welding time and welding current can be kept low, as the tensile force is distributed very evenly over all the bits used. Sensitive reshaping using the Strong tool is the key to success here. The perfect surface is then achieved with the Easy-Tool. The fine parameters of the welding inverter enable a perfect surface finish with only minimal reworking required for painting.
