This A8 belongs to the first generation with which Audi initiated the path of the "space frame". What became exciting from this model onwards is the repair of the body, as it is now made almost entirely of aluminum. The damage caused here can either be repaired with a new side panel, which is very expensive and extremely time-consuming, or with the help of the CBR laminar flow cabinet and the AluRepair VISAR. In order to make the repair economically and technically viable, the repair method is once again chosen. In this case too, the repair begins with the reshaping of the sill and wheel arch edge. By using the PushPull system in combination with the Gluetech + adhesive set and the wheel arch adapter set, it is possible to return the stable edges to their original position without any problems. In addition to the edges, the surface of the side wall was also straightened using the adhesive technology. Up to this point, the repair process is identical for the steel material. Now that bonding has been used as much as possible, the paint is removed and the AluRepair VISAR is used. Using the appropriate aluminum alloy, drawbar eyes are now welded on to remove the remaining imperfections. This is done using the principle of drawn arc ignition, with which the VISAR can also weld studs (both aluminum and steel). Pulling the aluminum bits is made possible by using the CBR pull bridges and the Easy-Tool. The easy handling of the tools is a decisive advantage here. There is no "spotter" process for aluminum. The repair of the side wall requires more time (compared to steel), as every small indentation requires the welding of a single bit. The end result does not allow any discussion of quality, as it is more in keeping with the claim of originality than a newly welded-in side panel.
